Shipping! (now with Bag Update!)
about 8 years ago – Sat, Aug 20, 2016 at 09:12:08 PM

Hi Backers!

Badges have started shipping!

We're still assembling too. Most days go something like........assemble and watch the Olympics on CBC all day with time out for food and the day job. Weekends have been faster paced. We can actually see the end....no, that's not true.  Another week, maybe two of assembly at this pace is anticipated with Rewards shipping on Monday's and Fridays.

To test how the BackerKit shipping pages work, we're starting with the easiest. One Badge, no addons will ship first and we'll progress from there. Most of those have shipped. You'll receive a tracking number in your inbox.

Bag Update: The Bags are complete. Shipping is pending. Yay!!

They're Here!

Hi Backers, Gamer Badges have arrived! They are awesome!! Some of you saw them in person this past weekend at Gen Con 2016.  It was great to meet you!! We expect the remaining inventory to return on Friday and we'll start packaging and shipping out orders that do NOT include The Bag as soon as Monday, Aug 15th.

Yay!!!!

How do you solve a problem like stickers?
over 8 years ago – Sat, Jul 23, 2016 at 10:12:54 PM

Hi Backers,

I'm at a bit of a loss with how to handle Gen Con 2016 sticker delivery.  The convention center doesn't allow any distribution or sales of stickers, therefore Gen Con doesn't allow for any distribution or sales of stickers. I double checked this with Gen Con staff. Should any of our awesome stickers end up stuck to the convention center, there are fees that we can't afford.

I also don't want people to pick up all their other items and then have to ship them stickers. That's not a good scenario for anyone.

So......I'm opening this up to suggestions. Should I set up a meeting place outside the convention center where you can pick up your stickers like some sort of black market transaction? Mail them? Do the hokey pokey and turn myself around?

Comment here or drop us a message. You could be the gamer to solve this dilemma!

Thanks!

Full Update and Plea for Help
over 8 years ago – Sat, Jul 23, 2016 at 09:26:14 PM

Hi Backers!

[TL:DR Version: All products are on the schedules we’ve previously announced with no anticipated delays. Pick up some items at Gen Con 2016. Yay! ]

Enjoy this list of product updates. Visit JBM Press, booth 2559 at Gen Con 2016, and gaze with wide-eyed wonder upon GAMER BADGES!

The Badges: in production, available at Gen Con 2016

The Sash: in production, available at Gen Con 2016

The Shirt: in production, available at Gen Con 2016

The Sticker Sheets: Complete and received! Available at Gen Con 2016, maybe (more in a separate update).

The Bag: in production. NOT arriving until late September.

Going to Gen Con 2016? Send us a message and we’ll have your available items ready for you in booth 2559. The Bag will be shipped to you when they arrive.

Not going to Gen Con? Your items will be shipped to you after Gen Con or when The Bag arrives, whichever applies.

Now for our plea: We worked for many months leading up to the Kickstarter launch, adding up production costs, three sets of fees, postage, more postage, international postage, packaging, quotes, and so much more (the spreadsheet is quite amazing.) We listened to all the advice from fellow industry friends and Kickstarter veterans about making sure to take into account many variables; we calculated a small buffer that would allow us to NOT lose money on this project, fulfill our backer rewards, and get our product into distribution.

We completed the project still prepared to meet that goal until our factory making The Bag raised the cost and pushed back arrival by six weeks, making it impossible to sell The Bags at Gen Con and recoup any costs.

The kicker came when we prepared to go to production with badges and our quote wasn’t honored. Our new quote was triple that amount and came with a 20% upcharge to get them at Gen Con 2016. This means Gamer Badges will NOT go into distribution and retail stores at this time.

While this does NOT affect your backer rewards, fulfilling this project without utterly devastating our personal finances depends on lots and lots of Gen Con 2016 sales, and pre-orders for the remaining bags.

Please bring your family, friends, and random gamers you just met to our Gen Con booth #2559, and show them how awesome Gamer Badges really are (as well as JBM Press shirts).

This is the last convention we will attend for the foreseeable future, so get Gamer Badges now or maybe miss out forever. Yes, we’re putting a bit of a squeeze and a hard sell on you, our amazing backers, but we really need the most massive, sell-to-the-tables-then-sell-the-tables Gen Con we can possibly muster. We ask that you enlist everyone you can find and drag them by booth #2559 to assist in this electrifying conclusion.

Thank you again for your tremendous support, we’ll see you in ten days in Indianapolis!
